Is making Statue, Images Haram in Islam or having these in home nullifies prayer?

০৬ ই জুলাই, ২০১৫ রাত ২:৪৮

The false teaching of Mollah is that one should not make statues of animals and humans. They say that the act of having statues of humans and animals will lead to idol worship. They also disallow the making of woodcarvings, moulds and also the drawing or painting of pictures that have animals or human forms.

My point is to seek the source of such verdict. Where does it comes from? If Quran allows it, Our Prophet cannot go in opposite direction, since the prophet cannot make any verdict/law against Quranic law-mentioned in Quran itself.

So the obvious question is to look for the source of such hadith. Interestingly, you will find such teachings in the Bible. The Bible calls it the worship of ‘graven images’. It is found in the following verses of the Bible:

“And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and ordinances that you might do them in the land which you are going over to possess. Therefore take good heed to yourselves. Since you saw no form on the day that the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire, beware lest you act corruptly by making a graven image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air, the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth.” (Deut 4:14-18)

Now, let’s see whether Allah has forbidden to do so…

They made for him what he willed of elevated chambers, statues, bowls like reservoirs, and stationary kettles. (We said), "Work, O family of David, in gratitude." And few of My servants are grateful.(Quran 34:13)

So, if the prophet Solomon is allowed to do so, and god approves it and mentioned in Quran, there is no reason to make it haram. If anybody do so in the name of Islam, he just deny the Allah’s word.

The strange thing is that the Jews and Christians do not follow their own Bible’s prohibitions about ‘Graven Images’ anymore. Hence the Catholic churches are full of statues, cherubs, angels, Mary Mother of --- and so on. But the Mollahs have taken this Biblical teachings to greater heights and have been obeying strictly the Biblical prohibitions on creating ‘Graven Images’ of humans and animals.

But according to the teachings of the Prophet this should not be the case. No less a person than a Prophet, a Messenger of GOD by the name of Solomon was actively engaged in the making of statues. This is what the Quran says in(34:12-13) mentioned above.

So, if you are truthful, tell me what Mollah teaches us- Quran or Bible?

In practice, Muslim becomes more Jews by accepting their sacred hadith and the Jews become more Muslim by rejecting their own Bible. This is the game going on in lots of practices.
