Captain Phillips

Few minutes back I watched a movie “Captain Phillips”. Still I’m shivering with excitement. Ship, captain, crew, pirates, gun, fight, money, hijack, hostage people…. what is not there!!

This film is produced based upon the book “A Captain’s duty: Somali pirates, Navy seals, and Dangerous days at sea” by Richard Phillips with Stephan Talty. As far as I know it’s written upon real story. Director shot this film very well. My all-time favorite hero Tom Hanks was at the lead role (Captain Phillips). Every moment, every minute was so exciting that sometimes I forgot to take breath..

On a fine morning Captain Phillips starts his voyage towards Socotra with a heavy cargo. On his way he has to cross Somali basin which is famous for hijacking ships by somalian pirates. After hearing that experienced Captain feels the danger of his voyage. He orders to double the security and this security means only some hos pipes… no armed guards, no arms… :O By the way, Captain’s guess comes true. They are attacked by Somali pirates. First day they make fool the pirates by captain’s cleverness. But next day they come back to the ship. Captain orders to start the hos pipes. Water comes in such a huge force that the pirates can’t come near to the ship. So, they make a whole on one of the pipes by firing guns and at last able to take control of that ship. Most of the crews are hiding at the engine room. Only captain and some other crews remain at the deck. However, captain of pirates understand this and wants to search the ship. Captain tries to distract them and pass messages to his crews intelligently. After a little fight Phillips’s crews are able to catch the pirate captain. However, other pirates have Captain Phillips. So, they order to give back their captain. Though they give word to exchange captains, actually they have a new plan. They hijack Captain Phillips and leave the ship by a sealed life boat. They are asking 10 million dollars in return for the release of their hostage. Meanwhile, navy and captain’s ship follow their lifeboat. Navy keeps talking with the kidnappers and prepare themselves to demolish the pirates. When they want to see Captain Phillips and talk with them, he delivers his location at the lifeboat indirectly. He knows that navy will fire on them soon. He gets a chance to flee away but unfortunately he is caught by the pirates again. Now, captain loses hope of being alive and writes a letter to his wife by saying that how much he loves him. Navy tells the pirate captain to come to their ship for negotiating the deal. When he comes they keep talking with him and ambush to that lifeboat to kill other three. But they are not sure where captain is. Clever captain makes a noise and the pirates tie him up with the boat’s hatch. Meanwhile the pirates understand that they will not get money. So, they decide to kill the captain. They slowly come towards him. Captain starts shouting and sends message to his family by saying that how much he loves them. Wait a second, navy spots all of them and fire…….. There was a boy at their team, captain wanted to save him but he couldn’t. His blood spats on his face. Captain becomes shocked to watch three dead bodies in front of him. When the navy rescues him, he can’t say a word for being shocked and cries like a child. It takes a year to captain to become normal and starts his job again. By the way, the pirate captain is sent to the jail for 33 years.
