Best cure for bad Tendencies

Few days back I had read an article about a famous writer and philosopher Alain de Botton. He gave a talk for an opening of one of his famous books. After giving a lecture he talked with a reporter. He expressed his views about literature, style of writing, intelligence and problems of other writers, their way of writing. At the end of that busy day when he came back to his home, he wrote a message at Twitter, “The best cure for one’s bad tendencies is to see them fully developed in someone else.”

This line caught my attention because I believe this also. I have a practical example to support this quote. I have a friend who just alike me. Her likings, thoughts, logic, even some of our family matters are also same. Human nature is a combination of good and bad habits. I’m not different. Naturally human is not aware of his bad sights. As usual I hadn’t notice it before. One day for some reason she had a problem. I tried to help her but she didn’t want to take help from me. I was so astonished after hearing this. I told her, “Why don’t you take help from me?” She replied, “I want to solve my problems by me ” You know it’s called Ego. I became so angry for her behavior. Soon, I noticed that I have this sort of problem too. I don’t want to take help from others whom I don’t like, even if they are very good people. Like this, I saw many problems on her which are quite similar to me and I didn’t like these. Then I started thinking that if I think about her in this way, what other people think about me when I behave the same way with them, like her. I decided to change my behaviors and gradually I’m able to remove some of my bad habits…
