WE DEMAND JUSTICE FOR BLOGER KILLINGS IN BANGLADESH.

Another Online activist and also activist of Gonojagoron moncho by the name of " Nazimuddin Samad " has been hacked to death on 6th April 2016.Last year Dipon, blogger ananta bijoy,blogger Washiqur Rahman, Dr. Avijit Roy, a well-known writer-blogger, scientist, American citizen of Bangladeshi origin also have been hacked to death. Few years back, another atheist blogger, Rajib, was killed in the same manner. These deaths have been carefully planned, pre-meditated and executed by Islamists who have targeted these bloggers who were free thinkers and questioned anything and everything, including all religions, including Islam, in their writing. According to these killers, these writers were enemies of Islam and hence it was the divine duty of these so-called vanguards of Islam to kill them.
We are outraged and appalled by the way these Islamists have been categorically encouraged by our system and society to carry out these heinous acts. We have reason to believe that elements in the law enforcement agencies have sympathetic views towards these Islamists. But the government can take stern measures to stop this hate crime of the highest order and bring the perpetrators to justice. We demand immediate action taken against the murders of all these bloggers that have occurred since 2013. We want strict government law enforcements on anyone trying to spread hate crime and incite killing in the name of religion. We demand the security of any secular writer or individual in Bangladesh, and to immediately crush any attempts by Islamists to kill anyone. We want the government to act immediately on this, to prove that it is indeed a secular government, one that is pro-Liberation and a guardian of freedom of speech and democracy and progress. We do not envision a Bangladesh spilled with the blood of human lives, atheist or not. If today nothing is done, tomorrow these very Islamists will dictate on the government and the very believers who believe in Islam. They will continue to kill till the adage of Islam as a religion of peace will become a huge mockery of Islam itself, and these so-called “peaceful” Islamists will continue to kill in the name of Islam.
We are ashamed to be coming from this slaughter-house that is Bangladesh now. Give us a reason to not be ashamed of our identity and our citizenship. We are not alone. We are accompanied by people of various other races, nationalities and backgrounds who support humanity and condemn these hate crimes. As international citizens of the world, we stand united against these anti-human forces. Now it is up to the government of Bangladesh to take a stand and act to prove its worth. These killings are not just attacks on mere individuals but an attack on the very freedom, liberation, secularism and democracy that the conception of Bangladesh stands for. We urge the government of Bangladesh to act now.
