I know that I am intelligent because I know that I know nothing.
NEWSFLASH! Facebook just announced another News Feed Algorithm change: *Automated* posts from third party apps will get less visibility in the News Feed.
It's important to note that these are what are called "implicit" posts; that is, posts that automatically go on your wall and in the News Feed of your friends via an app, without your direct control. [Usually, these are automated posts that you have agreed to when installing/using the third party app.]
However, posts that you share EXPLICITLY via third party apps will continue to get visibility in the News Feed and will receive *priority* over implicitly shared posts.
For example, the News Feed post generated by automatically listening to a Spotify playlist or artist will move down in the algorithm, while an album or song manually shared via Spotify to Facebook will receive a better ranking. Make sense?
I'm sure there's bound to be confusion over this announcement! You might start hearing rumors that posts via all third party apps don't get seen in the News Feed... and that is simply not true. In fact, with this new change, posts that YOU share (explicitly) via third party apps may get even better visibility. So, if you use apps like Buffer, HootSuite, Post Planner, etc. to schedule your Facebook posts, this algorithm change does *NOT* affect those types of posts.

What do you think? Good news?
For me, this is fabulous news. I have to say that the implicit automated posts by apps is one of my pet peeves on Facebook! I refuse to use apps that do this or that don't seem to at least allow easy control over auto-posts.
