BANGALORE: A 38-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a machete in an ATM in the heart of the city on Tuesday, leaving her severely injured, police said.

The woman, manager at Corporation Bank, entered the ATM in which no security guard was present, to withdraw cash when the assailant followed her inside and brought down the shutter before threatening her with the weapon, police said.

When the woman resisted, the assailant pushed her down and attacked her with the machete before closing the shutter and escaping, they said.

The ATM, located near a police station, did not have a security guard.

The victim has been admitted to hospital with severe injuries, police said, adding that they have obtained the CCTV footage from the ATM and are investigating the matter.

A shocking story has come in from Bangalore where a brutal attack inside an ATM booth has been caught on camera. The attacker was seen entering the booth and pulling down the shutter before he repeatedly attacked the woman with a machete.

The attacker then escaped after robbing the woman. Shockingly the incident took place just a stone's throw away from the Ulsoor Gate police station. The incident came to light after people passing by noticed blood stains outside the ATM.
