GOVT LEGALIZED ENACTING SHIP RECYCLING LAW 2015

For flourishing the ship breaking industry in the country, government is legalized enacting the Bangladesh Ship Recycling Law 2015. According to the initiatives to develop the ship breaking industry through enacting the law and establishing a regulatory authority named Bangladesh Ship Recycling Board. The law is aimed at addressing the occupational health hazards of the huge number of workers and employees, ensuring their working environment and a better waste management as well as protecting coastal environment. The law has a provision of minimum Taka 10 lakh and maximum Taka 30 lakh fine and maximum one year imprisonment or both for importing ships, breaking or anchoring on the coast without prior permission of the Ship Recycling Board. The new law will bring an end to this practice as the proposed board would take care of the activities. People appreciated that government taking initiatives to enact the law.
