Anything is possible in Bangladesh, where you become hero one day and a zero the very next day. The recent findings suggest that Faraz Ayaz Hossain - who was hailed as the defiant hero for refusing to leave his foreign friends behind when offered by the terrorists - was actually one of them. For an instance, I thought this gutter game of accusing an innocent is prevalent in Bangladesh and it is one of those conspiracy theories. But the facts and evidence in the form of video footage of the incident & his previous pictures advocate otherwise. Moreover a question that arose in my mind when I got to know about this lad's heroic act of selfless action is that why didn't he leave when he was given the chance to? A smart person in this situation would have left the place and gone on to explaining and helping the law enforcement officers in understanding the situation inside. I bet that could have saved a few more lives including his own, had he acted wisely.
Faraz Ayaz Hossain was the grandson of Mr Latifur Rahman - a renowned businessman with loads of awards and accolades to his name. The Daily Star & Prothom Alo which are owned by Transcom Bd of Mr Latifur Rahman are the front-runners in praising this kid as the hero. The government's role in this case has been as controversial and demurring as it could be. It doesn't surprise me to the bit when the Honourable Minister for Health and Family Welfare - Mr Mohammed Nasim comments about the terrorists being skilled and trained members of Shibir and the Honourable Home Minister denies involvement of any foreign radical organisation. It is also unclear why the government is hiding the identity of the only terrorist captured alive. It's been over 72 hours after his capture and nothing has been revealed as of now. Is the government trying to conceal something? I wonder if the Honourable PM herself is scared to tag a successful businessman's grandson as a member of the group that carried out the heinous atrocity of July, the 1st. Or is she worried about losing some financial and promotional backup from the liberal yet left-leaning media of Latifur Rahman? It is indeed the government who can answer these questions and we, the people own the right to #KnowTheTruth.
