২০০১ সালে ব্রাজিলের জনপ্রিয় পত্রিকা Folha de São Paulo ২০০ র বেশি সাংবাদিক, সংগীত শিল্পী ও সংস্কৃতির সাথে জড়িত অন্যান্য গণ্যমান্য ব্যক্তিকে নিয়ে একটি জরিপ চালিয়ে ছিল, ব্রাজিলের সর্বকালের সেরা গানটি নির্ণয় করার জন্য।ভোটারদের বলা হয়েছিল, গানের সুর, কথা, ঐতিহাসিক তাৎপর্য বা সেন্টিমেন্টাল ভ্যালু কোনটাকেই উপেক্ষা না করতে |



সেই জরিপে সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় সুরকার হিসেবে প্রথম স্থানটি দখল করেছিলেন, সবার প্রিয় Tom Jobim | সেরা ১০ টি গানের তালিকায় Tom Jobim এরই গান আছে ৭ টি |

সুরকার Chico Buarque de Hollanda পেয়ে ছিলেন Tom Jobim এর সমান ভোট | Jorge Ben দ্বিতীয়, Caetano Veloso এবং Vinicius de Moraes যথাক্রমে তৃতীয় ও চতুর্থ স্থান পেয়ে ছিলেন |

"Águas de Março" গানটি সবচেয়ে ভাল লাগে শুনতে ব্রাজিলিয়ানদের সবচেয়ে প্রিয় গায়িকা Elis Regina র কণ্ঠে | Elis Regina র জীবন এত বর্ণিল যে, তাঁকে বুঝতে হলে অন্য একটা প্রতিবেদন লিখতে হবে |







গানটির আক্ষরিক অনুবাদ অনেক খোঁজার পর পেয়েছি | Tom Jobim তাঁর এই গানটির অনুবাদ নিজেই ইংরেজীতে করেছিলেন | ব্রাজিলে হেমন্ত কাল মার্চ মাসে পড়ে, উত্তর গোলার্ধে আসে তখন বসন্ত কাল | ইংরেজীতে অনুবাদ করার সময় তাই তিনি সে অনুযায়ী গানের কিছু কথা পরিবর্তন করেছিলেন | এখানে আক্ষরিক অনুবাদটি দেয়া হল | Tom Jobim এর করা ইংরেজী অনুবাদ সহজেই নেটে পাওয়া যায়, তাই সেটা এখানে দিলাম না |

মারিয়া হিতা (Maria Rita) ২০০৬ সালে Caminho Das Águas গানটি গেয়ে ব্রাজিলের বর্ষসেরা শিল্পী হন | Maria Rita, Elis Regina র মেয়ে | সবাই মারিয়াকে নিয়ে খুব আশাবাদী, তাঁর মায়ের অকাল মৃত্যুতে তৈরি হওয়া শূণ্যস্থানটি তিনি হয়তো পূরণ করতে পারবেন |
