Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Pakistan and Rwanda are currently the top five troop-contributing nations to peace missions. According to UN statistics, 9,432 members of Bangladesh armed forces and police are now engaged in peacekeeping missions that is the highest contribution. At present more than 125,000 troops and police from 124 countries serve in UN peace missions. Bangladesh Armed Forces have participated in 54 peacekeeping missions in 40 countries since 1988. The Bangladesh Armed Forces and the Bangladesh Police have been actively involved in a number of United Nations Peace Support Operations (UNPSO). Bangladesh contributed the highest number of total personnel to United Nations Peacekeeping Operations with 9,432 personnel attached to various UN peacekeeping forces worldwide. The performance of Bangladesh's contingents has been described as being of the highest order. They awarded many times for their devoted, dedicated and participated in the noble task of peacekeeping activity. As such, UN has been pledged to engage Bangladeshi troops in peacekeeping missions.
