Sensitivity to social justice might be a motivation for poems, but it is not the only one. Through the immediacy of images, an improvised-sounding, rigorous musicality, and far-ranging sentences, conveys complexities of feeling and thought while avoiding didacticism and ideologically motivated polemicspoet does not ma...ke the dangerous mistake of addressing social inequality by turning politics into art. As the philosopher and literary critic Walter Benjamin might have said, 'responds by politicizing art.' The danger of such a response, though, is that it can lead to art that disguises its participation in capitalist culture so that attention to poetic form only produces the illusion of resolution of real social conflict.

তোমার দেহের সীমানারও শেষে,
আমি যাবো তোমাকে ভালোবেসে।

আমাকে দাও কিছু: আয়না,
উত্তেজিত রাত, মদ আর উড়ে যাওয়া জ্যোৎস্না,
উঁচু আকাশ আর সেতুর উন্মুক্ত খিলান,
ছত্রভঙ্গ পাখি আর রংধনু দিও,
আর পুনরাবৃত্তি করো শেষ অংশটি
আমরা বাজাই যেই সুরেলা গান।

আমার দেহের সীমানারও শেষে
আমি তোমাকে যাবো ভালোবেসে।
সেই সুদূর ব্যবধানে,
দেহের কাজ শেষ হয়ে যায় যেখানে
এবং তারা হয়ে যায় পুরোপুরি নিঃশেষ
স্পন্দনের আগুন আর আবেশ,
আর প্রতিটি কামনা ও অনুভূতি
করে প্রস্থান
সেই শব্দের আকৃতি,
যা ধরে রাখে ভান।

তুমি নৈতিকভাবে বোকা, যদি ভাবো এই কবিতাটি শুধু যৌনতা নিয়ে লেখা।

আমি তোমাকে করি প্রেম।

ভালোবাসা আর যুদ্ধ দুটোই খেলা,
কিন্তু আমারও আছে ভিডিও গেম।

যতক্ষণ না তাকে ছেড়ে দেয় শকুনের দয়ার ওপরে ...
