Today our nation shacked with a news, “A child of 3 to 4 years old has fallen down inside an abandoned pipe (14” to 17’’ diameter) rigged for deep tube well nearby a playground, which was uncovered due to negligence of related government official and contractor whom are responsible for the accident because it is supposed to be covered and sealed after abandoned. A senior Asst. Eng. of Bangladesh railway already suspended due to this incidence as the property and area of incidence is the asset of Bangladesh Railway.
As per media information the pipe is 240ft. To 600 ft. (Even the officials are not able to provide the information clearly which supposed to kept and available in there departmental documentation. Some officials says that it is a 600 ft. deep tunnel and after 240 ft. Remaining part are under the water surface like a deep sea.so there is no chance to float in that water or survive by a child of that age. On the other hand other officials said that the abandoned tunnel is waterless and the bottom is totally dry. Finally after more than 9 hours long media stunt, continuous live broadcast with running commentary ,fire brigade, ministers, and talk show stunts the situation turned dramatically and few officially already declared in front the media that its nothing but a hoax.
The funniest part is, some person of fire brigade also declare in front the media that they have contacted with the child also provide food and juice for him, and the baby has taken the juice to keep him warm and live”
How could be the famous media and journalist fooled so easily by some general people ….what a day!!!! So here raise few question about the quality of our journalism and media business.(so called responsible intellectual who has taken responsibility to serve the nation with truth and justice)”.
Today it has proven the drawback of existing 40+ TV channels for 147,570sqkm of independent and sovereign land with 15.7 million(2013) people.
It has proven the media break throw is became so cheap that just a phone call or based on few child talk (who steel believe they have seen tooth fairy) most channels rushed there and start competing with each other to broadcast live exclusive continuously and how much poetic speech they can deliver to cry the nation (which might get him a national prize in coming year).We can understand it’s not so easy to get shocking news (24/7) in this small area of land. They are always hungry for the footage to cover their chunk and bit the others.
And the reporters???? I doubt how many of them well trained and known about the basic principles of journalism.
I am not criticize that why everybody rush? A journalist always run behind the news even to know whether it is a fact or hoax. But the question raise about their working procedure. Everybody runs for the exclusives, footage more and more, but nobody follow the procedure and didn’t try to find out in first place that what the real story is. There is no doubt that a child is missing. But does that prove that he has fallen inside that abandoned tunnel??Was it necessary to keep busy by taking footage of every movement around that crowd? No one even think to ensure what is the real story and investigate around properly?
All the national issues stopped, people stacked in front of the TV to see what happen next? Does anybody know is any unusual event performed behind this drama in another place?
Is there any eyewitness who has seen " T) he National News Baby Zihad" to fallen down in that pipe??Or just somebody guess or informed? Did someone check it in the first place the news is about a missing child, guessing has fallen inside that hole??I mean i just want to know, how this thing start. Is it a fact or a rumor of a missing baby?
Even if it really occurs why so long will take to perform the operation. Confusing people with facts which were changing every minutes. Same channel providing contradicted facts and news changes randomly.
God Knows...but after 9 hours of live broadcast of various channel and thousands finger raise against government official bla bla,if a different news arrive like “Baby Zihad" was missing and finally found in some other place.("like sleeping in his uncle house”. Or “eloped by someone").it will be so hilarious.
At the same time very embarrassing for the media heroes. But there will be no doubt, this will be the "News of The Year". At the same time it will prove the condition of our media stunt. And a very important question raise in this case" what is the quality of our reporters...and how experience they are about journalism?"
As per procedure someone should fist ask and ensure it that is there any eyewitness who has seen the moment....A baby could be missing and it’s also a very important news....It’s a huge slap to our media's who are always try to make a news hot, exclusive and dramatic..
Where is the father of the child? Or the family of him. Everybody is fighting last 9 hours to get a clear shot and the presenters are pushing their limit of emotion, voice modulation to make it more dramatic.
But nobody maintain the golden rule of Journalism that is it really happened? Who have seen it?
Few child of 4/ 5 years old said “they heard a voice inside the pipe asking for help".
And the media became very active. Please at list take a lesson from it and also teach your journalist how to make a news or verify the authenticity.

i am watching the live broadcast of every channel since 5 hours. But no reporter of any shows or talk to the father of child...and still i am in front of TV? Where is the farther? Where is the family, nobody even try to talk with him?
Addressing to the Honorable prime minister and the Information minister i would ask a question very humbly “are you watching the effect of issuing more than 40 TV channels in this small country? All of them are broadcasting 24/7 worldwide?"
was it really necessary to run and start live broadcast with emotional drama and suspense before ensuring the real fact...justify the source of news. Is it a case of missing child or really it’s an unfortunate and terrible accident?
Somebody call to any channel about anything and they are run after it with live broadcast with the blessings of Cheap but modern technology. On the other hand many famous channels even don't pay there employee regularly. There is evidence that some channels has due the salary of employees more than 2 3 months. But these are news behind the news!!!
Journalism is a great responsible job needs guts, education and ethics to find out the real truth behind any scene. And so far i know, the primary lessons of journalism is don't speak out a word without ensuring or getting proof or evidence about the news. So what should i ask “All the shining stars of our media and channels are just show off? Washing peoples mind with their poetic language and some information without evidence?
i don't know whether it’s a criminal offence or not...but the question raise today....the news about politics, development and achievements of government or against the opposition .conveyed by these media's to our general people who believe on their speech and statistics, how much fact and figures and evidence based? They are confusing the general people ...dividing the society ....creating confusion’s, provoke various community to fight with one another.
Is it called Journalism, or something colorful like green, yellow or red journalism!!!
It’s really a very sensitive and dangerous issue of thinking for the nation, we are getting hypnotized, brain washed and blind by few people whom are designated to convey the truth to our people.
Those people who were very confidently delivering lot of news like successfully able to communicate with the child, provided food and juice for him now they are just disappeared.
Can anyone provide me the information to fulfill my curiosity who is that person who talk to the child and who provided the food and juice and ensure very confidently in front of the media that, “baby has taken the food and drinking juice seated on the bottom of an abandoned pipe of 600ft from surface level.
After a long time right now, the question has raised in the mind of our heroes to verify about the information and finding eyewitness’s which should be the first step before going live and shake the nation.
Last but not least, a question raise in my general mind if the journalism of our country is like this, are we able to get the real history of our country liberation??
i am very anxious about my son's future, i don't know which Bangladesh is waiting for his next future and will he be a good citizen or get a safe and sound life? Will he able to know the really history of our liberation???
