Culture is the characteristics of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. Basically culture is shared values and beliefs in a given group. People in every culture are raised with a set of values, beliefs, and attitudes. As these above discussion our garments sector is also a part of our culture. In the field of Industrialization garment industry is a promising step. It has given the opportunity of employment to millions of unemployed, especially innumerable uneducated women of the country. It is making a significant contribution in the field of our export income. Once the cloth of Bangladesh achieved worldwide fame.Jamdani is a hand loom woven fabric made of cotton, which historically referred to as muslin. In dictionary Jamdany means a silk fabric, with a woven pattern of sprigs of flowers. In Jamdani there is some varieties category as like saree, Panjabi, lungi and so on.For some time now, we have found that three items which are very dear to every Bangladeshi have been registered by India as its own products. They are the famous Jamdani sari, the exquisite Nakshi Katha, and last but not the least, the delicious Fazli mango. India has opened a register of what is known as Geographical Indicator (GI) of its products. Every member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) which abides by the Trade Related Intellectual Property rights (TRIPS) agreement is required to do this. Under sections 22, 23 and 24 of this agreement individual countries have now the right to protect and patent famous, exceptional and extraordinary products originating within the geographical territory of the country, under the GI act 1999. India has thus registered Jamdani sari as originating from Andhra Pradesh, the Naksi Katha from West Bengal and Fazli mango from West Bengal. The jamdani sari, although a heritage of Bangladesh, risk being recognized as a creation of India under its GI law—due to the absence of such a law in Bangladesh. Now a days, it's almost clear to all of us that, the patent of Jamdani sari is going to be hijacked by India while the patent of Jamdani sari belongs to Bangladesh. No doubt the patent of jamdnai sari belongs to Bangladesh and has been exporting Jamdani for many years in India and its our traditional heritage. Jamdani is weaving in our locality for generations. It is high time to enact the GI law, otherwise the country would lose not only the Jamdani but also other traditional products which bear the heritage of the country.
