If you are looking for "flowery words" in a song (that usually don't have any real meaning!) then ARBOVIRUS is not for you. These song lyrics are pretty straightforward and sometimes really mean some things! The songs are often intentionally scratchy but really "twingy" and bright at the same time.
Let's just listen to the album for about less than 40 minutes. Yes, the album is that short! Just like the old days, almost the standard size of a vinyl (LP). It's really a small package of explosive, filled with the power of pure Rock music.
The opening song is Jaalo Aagun Jaalo, it's surely the anthem song for the band. It describes how we've been cheated over and over by the rulers/politicians and thus that rude expression. The creepy guitar intro with commanding voice scatting about disobeying . But the tricky part is, something like"Let's Burn Everything" usually heard from the people entitled with dirty politics. Now the song is actually giving back their slogan, as threat! The song featured something that we sadly have to listen very often, so you already know the chorus even before you listen to it. This is the perfect example of how rap fits in with heavy metal riffs! The slippery guitar solos became Arbo's signature.Perfect song to start an album, a song that starts with a bang!
Roder Kinaray, is kind of maze at the beginning, almost like a self-made riddle. The song create circles that you're bound to fall and feel like stuck into it. Where there's no hope and everything's lost. But somewhere in the middle,it shows a sign of hope. It also describes how the singer learned things in hardship and struggle! And finally the song will enlighten you to look forward. The guitar solo actually gives you a relief, a feeling of breakthrough.
Hariye Jao, the band has a tendency to put listeners into riddles in their songs. And I think,they'll try to do that whenever they get a chance! It's actually the ballad song of the album. It features strong keyboard works, the only song they used keys and orchestration. With real feeling, the vocalist did a splendid job, the harmonizing parts are commendable,total justice to a Rock ballad.
Aw starts with a single scratchy rhythm part and then the whole band joins in, classic intro. The second guitar fillers are just perfect. I gotta tell you about the bass and drum combination, well we all know, these two things make a band really strong, and the chemistry between these two players is just right. They actually put a deshi classical breaks during the solo parts along with a blistering bass solo. "Aw" as in the first Bangla alphabet, it's simple but has inner meaning. I think, the moral of the song is, all the things we're going thru our lives has different perspectives and in the end they all bound for changes.
Durotto, the vocalist of the band is not the best in the world but he sings with a heart and be what his band want him to be, he plays a true frontman's role. The song has typical acoustic rhythm and the talented vocalist keeps on dragging the song from one place to another. The song incredibly carried by the bass player with the help of the dependable drummer.The song describes the urban life that we love and hate at the same.It has that sticky feelings of nostalgia and trying to forget about the bitter past, and lastly a simple solo what actually completes the song.
Sharthopor represents this generation. Where the singer admits of being selfish but who's not confused at all. He has the clear picture of who he is and knows his boundaries. It's about six minute long but somewhere in the middle they had a radical transition and turned it to a hard hitting instrumental, that really showed the band's true power! The bassology of the bass player, the perfection of the beats, the signature slippery solos and the organized riffs; no doubt it's the title track of the album, that ends with a strong statement, that no one has the right to say anything towards the lifestyle they choose to live.
Prolaap is like the commentary to our country! It starts with all the big lies and the fuss dirty politicians always up to. It's very political, but the "amar desh, amar desh" chorus is so haunting, almost like a chant thatmakes you responsible for this ill-fate of the country. The scary guitar solo almost sounds "distuned" but the guitarist intended to do that, somehow they made the whole song exactly what we all needed to listen right now!
Bodle Gechhe, you'll feel a sense of grief with this acoustic song. It has a reference of how we transformed through the years and how our priority changes during these course of time. It describes all the changes in the city, the music scene and the finally whole culture. It has a tragic ending that'll leave you empty. The melancholy tune stays in your mind long after you finish listening.
The sound of the whole album is the perfect example of how real instruments should sound in this day and age. The sound of drum kit is amazingly tight and the bass lines are perfectly seamed in every song, I bet the two guitar players had a ball recording the whole thing and the sound engineer done an awesome job, specially on voice layers. This is truly a compact album.
A good book have a perfect ending and will always have after effects, it makes a reader think about it even after it ended. The same goes with a great movie and a successful album. Looking back at Monttobbo Nishproyojon have you realize about the messages they wanted to carry out thru music, it's either about our expectations or what we go thru our everyday life, nowadays. It is just the things we wanted to listen.
Monttobbo Nishproyojon is a passionate journey, the soundtrack of our lives. It really don't have any dull moment! I think, it is one of those album that we listeners eagerly wait for year after year. It certainly created a benchmark that now the other Rock bands will have to level or try and top.
