Internet.org - A remedy for poverty?

A couple of days ago while I was on Facebook, I suddenly saw an ad of Robi which said that the Internet would be free from now on. I literally got my heart beat faster as I clicked on the post. The post said Robi along with Facebook has launched free internet for the first time in Bangladesh!
It said initially, people will get to use 28 sites and hopefully more websites will be available. To be very honest, I could not believe what I just read. All I did was grabbed my phone which has Robi sim in it, downloaded the internet.org app as it was an android phone and started browsing. I was astonished! The service was completely free! The next day even more surprise was waiting for me. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook himself posted a status tagging Robi that they have lunched free internet in Bangladesh in order to reduce poverty. I could not believe my eyes, he just posted what we wanted for a long time.
Living in a developing country like Bangladesh, always my question was “why are we poor and others are rich?” “Why in a developing country like Bangladesh people remain jobless?” It always seemed like the whole concept about poverty in Bangladesh and the unemployment problem is getting stereotyped by the media and the experts. I had always felt that if there was an easy access to the internet to the people of Bangladesh, the illiteracy rate would go down, people would start getting jobs, overall knowledge would enhance, and life would start getting better.
After seeing what Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook and Robi did together, I’m feeling delighted. Perhaps my dreams are coming true! I’m starting to hope for a better Bangladesh in the days to come.
Do I need to say any more? No I guess! Long live Robi, long live Facebook! The good times are about to begin!
