I am because you are
You are, therefore, I am
Away from my home
Away from my body
Bangladesh lives in me
Therefore, my name is Glory
I am victory
I am invincible
Indomitable spirit
Of the daughters of the nation
Rising from ashes every morning
I am Bangladesh
I am the nation myself
Bear the witness
Of forcibly displaced memories of unfathomable sacrifice
Of my ancestors in the textbooks
Ploughed the largest delta inspired by the saints and Sufis
Restored the green paddy fields from the wild
Padma and Meghna runs through my blood vessels
Dreaming my dreams
Of freedom from recurrent oppressive regimes after regimes
Of speaking the gravest truth of my heart
Of courage of loving my true lovers
Of giving birth to millions of lovechildren
Playing in the alluvial mud of my homeland
Of giving birth of new imagi-nation
Of no compromise with discrimination and injustice
Of forms of plural communities of brothers and sisters
Breaking through the patriarchal relation of rule
Serial disasters of Capital locked us down forever
Writing stories of resistance in the Sundarbans,
In the Sajek valley, Kaptai and the river Karnaphuli
in my brothers' languages, I cannot speak
Of the temple of sacred love of the Creator in Comilla
Shall never settle for less than complete freedom
From extracting the labor of the nimble fingers
From thousands of bodies under the collapsed factory
Slashed and burned by endless greed
From the shackle of surveillance technology controls our mind
From seduction of cash to sell my family graveyard
The ever struggler mothers rise from ashes every day
Living our dispossessed lives hearing the chilling threat of rape
Not anymore from the Pakistani Military (for five decades now)
Bear the double burden of work and home, of honor and shame
Paying the price with uncountable lives
And immeasurable zillion lifetimes.
I Inherit the determination of the heroic daughters of the soil
Rise from ashes every day
Never settle for less than the absolute beauty
Of complete freedom.
